Dear Beautiful Momma,
I see you, and I want you to know that you are loved. The days may feel long as you navigate the challenging journey of motherhood, I know this because I am currently walking through the valley, right in this very moment as I write this. I’m not coming as someone who has it all figured out. I know firsthand the overwhelming waves of emotion and exhaustion that can accompany the postpartum period. It’s okay to feel lost, tired, or unsure – but please remember, you are not alone.
I want to share with you some gentle reminders and practical tips, infused with my love of Jesus, that can help you find strength during this tender time:
- Self-Care is Sacred: Momma, it’s vital to prioritize your own well-being amidst the demands of caring for your little one. Take a moment to make a list of simple self-care rituals that nourish your soul – whether it’s savoring a hot cup of tea, indulging in a bubble bath, or stealing a few quiet moments to journal. These small acts of self-love can replenish your spirit and give you the energy you need to keep pouring into your precious family.
- Nourish Your Body, Nourish Your Soul: Postpartum can be physically taxing, and oftentimes, our vitamin levels can dip. Consider scheduling a check-up with your healthcare provider to ensure your body is receiving the essential nutrients it needs to thrive. A lot of times our sadness and mood is strongly affected by vitamin depletions. It’s a real thing, and is never talked about. Remember, nurturing your physical health is an act of stewardship – a sacred duty to honor the vessel that carries both you and your little one.
- Here is an article that goes into more detail:
- Anchor Yourself in Faith: In moments of despair or uncertainty, when it feels like you are slowly drifting and losing sight of what is good in life, turn to the comforting embrace that God has gone before you, beside you and behind you. That he hand picked these children to be yours and in a time such as this. So, set aside time each day to immerse yourself in prayer and the Word. Believe me, you won’t feel like it! DO IT ANYWAYS! Even if it is five minutes, that five minutes will fill your tank. Allow the promises of scripture to serve as hope, guiding you through the darkest of nights and reminding you of the unshakeable love and grace of your Heavenly Father.
- Move Your Body, Free Your Mind: It’s incredible what a bit of movement can do for the soul. Even if it’s just a short walk around the block with your little bundle of joy, prioritize physical activity as a means of rejuvenating both your body and mind. As you move, release the weight of worry and surrender to the rhythm of your breath, finding solace in the simplicity of the present moment. The book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear talks about the power of starting something for just 5 minutes and the power of five minutes. Game Changer!! This may be the most practical of all the practical tips of them all, but it really works. Try it for a week and just see how you feel!
- Courage in Vulnerability: Mama, please know that it’s okay to not be okay. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone. Take a brave step forward and start communicating your struggles with those you trust – whether it’s a supportive friend, family member, or healthcare professional. Vulnerability is not a sign of weakness; it’s a testament to the strength and resilience that resides within you.
Dear Momma, I want you to know that you are seen, you are loved, and you are enough. Not because on your own you are enough, but because Jesus has made you enough. As you journey through the ups and downs of motherhood, may you find comfort in the knowledge that there is a divine grace carrying you through every step of the way. I pray these practical tips will bless you and give you hope in this very moment and that you will lean extra hard into Gods love for you when you are feeling hopeless.
xoxo, Mikala Mae
